EnglishWhen I found this cutting board I immediately wanted to know more about these illustrated wonders of design from Sweden! Wooohoo, love! After many months my unbridled passion for geometries is still iper alive… and very healthy, I would say.
All these accessories for the home are based on the illustrations of the multidisciplinary artist Jenny von Döbeln, who founded Mini Empire on 2010.
It’s all so lovely and tidy, from the wallpaper owls, to the patterns, the photographs, and the styling of the set.
Someone can explain me why all handmade creations, designs and styles that come from Sweden are always so amazing?
Perhaps there is a trick! :)
ItalianoQuando ho trovato questo bellissimo tagliere ho subito voluto capire di chi fossero queste meraviglie di design illustrate provenienti dalla Svezia. E’ amore! Dopo molti mesi la mia incontrollabile passione per le geometrie è ancora frizzantemente viva, a quanto pare.
Tutti questi accessori per la casa sono basati sulle illustrazioni della multidisciplinaria artista Jenny von Döbeln, che ha creato Mini Empire nel 2010.
E’ tutto così carino e curato, dalla carta da parati con i gufi, alle patterns, le foto, e lo styling del set.
Ma quanto sono carini e particolari questi lavori?
E contate che il rosso non è nemmeno tra i miei colori preferiti!

EnglishToday I want to introduce you Nadia, an Italian artist that creates these little handmade porcelain jewelry and objects under the name of Atelier Gilet.
I like the mix of geometries and drawing she makes.
And what about the octagonal brooches with urban landscapes? She calls them Mini Cities.
Another idea I like are these speech baloons.
What a lovely and delicate object to have around in your home or studio!

As I told you yesterday on Facebook the thing I was working on these past weeks is ready and so finally I can show it to you!
I was asked to create 7 handmade pyramid masks props for the music video of “Your Graduation” song by After Crash.
When I received the proposal for this work from Francesco Brancacci, visualized the story that would be created and listened to the song… I said YES!
I loved the song at first listen and I liked the idea of the masks to represent a sort of standardized society, so I was extremely curious to collaborate and see the final result of the video.
Here it is!! :)
It’s been one of that works that looks simple and pretty quick to realize at first sight, but at the end it took me longer than expected to obtain the result I wanted and that they needed for the shooting.
Below I’ve made a little collage with some pictures of the process.
The photos of the steps before these are missing (ouch! they has been the hardest part because I had to find the best way to make the pyramids firm, with the right dimension and the most smooth finish possible, also along the sides).
Well this how they came out after some tests.
It’s exciting to see something that I’ve created with my hand being used by others to make a bigger project that involves many other people, places and fields such as shooting, photography, music…
I really like how the video turned out and isn’t absolutely GREAT this song?
If it were up to me, I’ll put it straight on all the biggest radio stations out there!

Come vi avevo scritto ieri su Facebook finalmente posso mostrarvi ciò che per un pò mi ha tenuta impegnata in lab fino a tardi qualche settimana fa.
Mi è stato chiesto di creare 7 maschere handmade a forma di piramide come props per il video musicale della canzone “Your Graduation” degli After Crash.
Quando ho ricevuto la proposta per questo lavoro da Francesco Brancacci, visualizzato la storia che sarebbe stata creata e ascoltato al canzone… ho detto SI!
Mi sono innamorata di questa canzone al primo ascolto e mi piaceva l’idea di maschere artigianali per rappresentare una sorta di società standardizzata; ero estremamente curiosa di collaborare a questa cosa e di vedere il risultato finale del video.
Eccolo qui!! :)
E’ stato uno di quei lavori che ad un primo sguardo sembrano semplici e abbastanza veloci da realizzare, ma alla fine ci è voluto un pò più di quanto avessi previsto per poter ottenere il risultato che volevo e di cui avevano bisogno per le riprese.
Qui sotto ho fatto un piccolo collage con qualche immagine delle piramidi in lavorazione.
Le foto dei passaggi iniziali mancano (argh! sono stati i passaggi più laboriosi perché ho dovuto trovare quale fosse il metodo migliore per avere delle piramidi solide, della giusta dimensione e con la finitura più omogenea possibile, anche lungo i lati).
Ecco come sono venute, dopo alcuni tests iniziali.
E’ un’emozione vedere qualcosa che ho creato con le mie mani essere usata da altri per un progetto più grande che coinvolge altre persone, luoghi e campi come quello della ripresa video, della fotografia, della musica…
Mi piace molto com’è venuto il video e la canzone… è BELLISSIMA! Vi piace?
Se fosse per me, la spararei da tutte le più famose stazioni radio!

EnglishToday’s post is about the imaginative art of Cecile Perra, a visual artist from France.
Besides the huge imagination she put in her works, I’m drawn to the way she mix and match all these different materials creating something that at the end, you perceive like a single piece. Like a world that exists and it’s exactly that way.
I think behind these complex creations there’s lot of study and work.
When I see works like these, one of the first thing I convey is experimentation.
And this makes me want immediately experiment something new.

Oltre alla grande immaginazione che mette nei suoi lavori, sono attratta dal modo in cui mescola e combina tutti questi differenti materiali creando qualcosa che, alla fine, percepisci come un tutt’uno.
Come un mondo realmente esistente.
Io penso che dietro a queste creazioni così complesse ci sia molto studio e lavoro.
Quando vedo lavori come questi, una delle prime cose che mi trasmettono è sperimentazione.
E questo mi fa venire immediatamente voglia di sperimentare qualcosa di nuovo.
Orange is a color I’m noticing a lot in the details of the handmade works lately.
Is it because Tangerine Tango is the color of the year or just because it’s a lovely color to use to brighten up a creation and to play with for color combinations?
Anyway, I like a lot how and where it’s been used on these works.
L’arancione è un color eche ultimamente sto notando in molti lavori handmade.
Sarà perché il Tangerine Tango è il colore dell’anno, o semplicemente perché è un colore carino da usare per dare vivacità e con cui giocare per gli abbinamenti di colore?
Anyway, mi paice molto come è dove è stato usato in questi lavori.
