EnglishDuring my research on the web I came across these two artists and… WoW.
No words to describe their creations, simply brilliant. Both for the ability of cutting all these detailed shapes on these materials – respectively paper and dry leaves – and for the originality of the designs they create.
The art you are seeing is by Elsa Mora, currently based in Los Angeles, California and originally from Cuba.
I must say that I spent lot of time surfing around her blog amazed by her wonderful talent and fantasy, and I suggest you all to also read her About me page, a fascinating story (with funny drawings) that touched my heart.

Below you can admire some works by Lorenzo Duran from Guadalajara, España. We could define them “leaf cutting” works.
The first time I saw them (via Anna Denise of “The Yellow Umbrella“) I thought “Oh my gosh!”.
I couldn’t believe someone would be able to do so precise and small notches in a leaf!
What else can we say? We can just stay open-mouthed and let ourselves be carried away by this dreamy mix of nature and art.

DUE GENI DELL’INTAGLIO: ELSA MORA E LORENZO DURAN
Facendo le mie ricerche nel web mi sono imbattuta in questi due artisti e… WoW.
Non ci sono parole per descrivere le loro creazioni, semplicemente brillanti. Sia per l’abilità di intagliare tutte queste forme dettagliatesu questi materiali – rispettivamente carta e foglie secche - che per l’originalità dei disegni che creano.
Quello che state vedendo è di Elsa Mora, che attualmente vive a Los Angeles in California, ma originaria di Cuba.
Devo dire che sono stata parecchio tempo a girovagare sul suo blog stupita dal suo meraviglioso talento e dalla sua incredibile fantasia, e vi suggerisco di andare a leggervi la sua pagina About me, una storia affascinante (con dei disegni divertenti) che mi ha toccato il cuore.

Qui sotto invece potete ammirare i lavori di Lorenzo Duran da Guadalajara, Spagna. Potremmo definirli lavori di “leaf cutting” (intaglio della foglia).

Non potevo credere che qualcuno fosse davvero riuscito a fare degli intagli così piccoli precisi in una foglia secca!
Che altro si può dire? Possiamo solo starcene a bocca spalancata e lasciarci trasportare dal sogno di questo mix di natura e arte.

Today I want to go straight into the world of Francesca Mancini, an Italian designer with a passion for the organic and the experimentation.
I’m letterally fascinated by the extraordinary use that Francesca does of these different materials and the way she creates her artistic compositions – necklaces, brooches and other accessories.

Her love for the experimentation, the research and the study of materials and combinations shines through.

Another dose of inspiration! Today it comes from Sandra Dieckmann, the illustrator that calls itself a womanimal. Pretty simple guess why, isn’t so?
This is a detail of a biggest illustration. I strongly suggest you to also admire its full version, the detail of the enlargement and the initial sketch. Wonderful.
What I love the most of her illustrations is the fantastic ability to reproduce animals and animal details in such an original and perfect way, together with the work of mixing of these drawings with other things and colors, also when apparently discordant each another.
These trees and the contrast of style and colors with the bear is simply genius, and on its own way it’s perfectly balanced.

Evvia con un’altra dose di ispirazione! Oggi viene da Sandra Dieckmann, l’illustratrice che si definisce donnanimale. Abbastanza semplice immaginare il perché, no?
Questo qui in alto è il dettaglio di un’illustrazione più grande. Vi suggerisco vivamente di amirarlo anche nella versione intera, poi nel dettaglio ingrandito e anche la bozza iniziale. Stupendo.
Cioò che mi piace di più delle sue illustrazioni è la fantastica abilità di riprodurre gli animali e parti di essi in un modo così originale e perfetto, insieme al lavoro di mixaggio di questi disegni con altre cose e colori anche apparentemente discordanti uno dall’altro.
Questi alberi e il contrasto di stile e colori con l’orso è semplicemente geniale, e a suo modo perfettamente bilanciato.

Always fascinated from this kind of art where shapes and drawings come from a brilliant mix of simple lines, asymmetries, perfect imperfections, a childlike look.

Sono sempre affascinata da questo tipo di arte in cui le forme e i disegni provengono da un mix di linee semplici, asimmetrie, perfette imperfezioni e tratto infantile.

It’s been so funny to surf around to create this collection! And I found some really adorable works!
Let’s start with the first cushions I’ve chosen to represent this multistyle collection.
They’re a mix of cuteness and colors and its nice Chihuahua in New York character is super sweet, and I love the bright and neon combination of threads and backgrounds used. They’re hand painted and has many embroidered details too. You can find them at the Senor Picklesworth shop on Etsy.
The second group of pillows are the “Shaped“. They’re so nice! And I want to point out that the lovely clouds you see are all hand knitted. Yes yes yes. You can see a closer image of the work here.
And please check also this one, shaped like a giant bear, and all knitted. Incredible work.

I’ve called the third group “Cottage and Shabby Chic“.
Don’t you think they’re perfect for this kind of ambience?
I especially love the great contrast of colors and designs in the first cushion, I find it perfect.
And well… yes, for quite some time now I’m totally addicted to yellow, white and blue stripes and anchors (I think now those who follow my posts, know it by heart!).
The aqua blue color instead is one of my favorite ever, so it couldn’t miss.

Mi sono troppo divertita a creare questa collezione! E ho trovato un bel pò di lavori adorabili!
Iniziamo con i cuscini che ho scelto per rappresentare questa collezione multistile.
Sono un mix di tenerezza e colori, il suo Chihuahua a New York è troppo dolce, e amo la combinazione di fili e sfondi luminosi e “neon” che ha usato. Sono dipinti a mano e hanno anche dei dettagli ricamati.

Il secondo gruppo di cuscini sono quelli “Shaped” (sagomati/a forma di). Sono troppo belli! E voglio farvi notare che le adorabili nuvolette che vedete sono tutte lavorate ai ferri, a mano. Yes yes yes. Potete vedere qui un immagine di questo lavoro più dettagliata e ravvicinata.
E poi becatevi questo, a forma di orso gigante, interamente fatto a maglia. Un lavoro incredibile.

Il terzo gruppo l’ho chiamato “Cottage and Shabby Chic“. No, non c’è traduzione italiana che renda meglio.
Non pensate che siano perfetti per questo tipo di ambienti? Quanto mi piacciono!
In particolare il meraviglioso contrasto di colori e design del primo cuscino, lo trovo perfetto.
E beh… si, da un bel pò ormai sono totalmente drogata di giallo, righe bianche e blu, e ancore (penso che chi segue i miei posts, ormai lo sa a memoria!).
Il colore azzurro/verde aqua invece, rientra nei miei preferiti da sempre, perciò mica poteva mancare.

This is another artist I discovered surfing the IB group on Flickr. How adorable?
I instantly fell in love with these original handmade paper art toys made by the illustrator (and animated film director) Blanca Helga, from Spain. She call them Paper Friends!
Love to observe all these characters and discover from each detail the big imagination of this girl. No doubt about her big love for children books and illustrations.
I adore collages. Do you remember the feature I made of Gustavo Aimar? One of my fav.

Un’altra artista che ho scoperto gironzolando nel gruppo di IB su Flickr. Quanto sono belli?
Mi sono istantaneamente innamorata di questi realizzati dall’illustratrice (e direttrice di film d’animazione) Blanca Helga, dalla Spagna. Lei li ha chiamati Paper Friends!

Cindy Steiler learned to sew, quilt and embroider by her grandmother and now she tell stories with a needle and thread.
“Through my work I hope to capture the essence of my relationship with my grandmother while exploring and celebrating all women and girls; our relationships, our daily lives, and our traditions.”
Above just some example of the works created by Cindy using the threads to embroider inside an old Brownie box camera or to create an original diorama. Amazing works.
Cindy aka marysgranddaughter on her Etsy shop has been featured in various blogs and popular places and also taught in the Etsy labs for a class about embroidering custom pet portraits.
In Italy we definitely need more creative workshops such as these!

Besides being very original works, the first photo is so beautiful that I would do a poster for my wall!
These sculptures are made by Lana Bragina from Hamburg, Germany, she’s Uloni on Etsy and this is her shop.
Each sculpture is always different from the other.
Lana says it’s since she was 10 years old that she knits.
I like her imagination.
If you like what you’re seeing I suggest you to take a look at her Flickr page and sets too.

There are two things I like the most in the works by Rochelle Metcho.
The first is the style of these wooden wall plaques with little hand sculpted and hand painted creatures.
I particularly love the one in the image above, with that geometric detail painted without complying with the edges of the plaque. I like this choice.
The second thing that captured my attention is the jewelry she realizes using the embroidery technique, all by hand.
Looking closely you can see the beautiful designs created with needle and threads.
I only found a link to the Rochelle’s Etsy shop, but if you know about other online spaces where we can find her, let us know below :)

Le cose che mi piacciono di più dei lavori di Rochelle Metcho sono due.
La prima è lo stile di queste placche di legno da muro con piccole creature scolpite e dipinte a mano.
Mi piace in modo particolare quella nell’immagine qui sopra, con quei dettagli geometrici dipinti senza tener conto dei bordi della placca. Mi piace questa scelta.
La seconda cosa ch eha catturato almia attenzione sono i gioielli che realizza usando la tecnica del ricamo fatto a mano.
Guardando da vicino potete vedere il design che ne risulta creato con ago e fili.

I discovered these works on the Imaginative Bloom Flickr Group and I could not resist to dedicate them a post, the amazing customizations by Tracey Meek.
Tracey is an artist and illustrator from Derby, UK.
I’ve never had a special love for Russian dolls, but these are extremely adorable and original, I’m totally fascinated by both the illustrated part and the details added with the collage technique.
In the first and second image you can see the front and the back of two dolls, Mrs Wichita and Norris Wichita.
And this is a “family photo”. Girls, I think that collecting them could become an addiction!

Ho scoperto questi lavori sul Gruppo Flickr di Imaginative Bloom e non ho resistito dal dedicare loro un intero articolo, le sorprendenti customizzazioni di Tracey Meek.
