Another little treasure of the handmade: Forestprints Design. It started in August 2004 by Singapore based designer, Lynda Lye. The official site was followed up with the birth of her indie lifestyle label, littleoddforest, affectionately known as LOF by friends and fans.
Lynda has always felt she belongs to another world of enchanted forests, filled with magical animals and imaginary creatures, and thus take inspiration from the world created in her head. Her works are on sale in the official site and on Etsy.
“LOF is not interested in becoming a fashion trend – it aims to be a lifestyle; one that is embraced by many, especially handmade lovers and crafty connoisseurs from all over the world who appreciate a little dose of fun in their everyday life!”, she says.

Un’altro piccolo tesoro dell’handmade: Forestprints Design. E ‘iniziato nell’ agosto 2004, da una giovane designer di Singapore, Lynda Lye. Il sito ufficiale è stato seguito dalla nascita dell’etichetta indipendente littleoddforest, conosciuta anche come LOF dagli amici e dai fans.

I follow Gustavo Aimar since at least 3 years. He comes from Argentina. I feel totally inspired by his stunning creativity for all the little details, tecniques, shapes and colours and well, a bit sad thinking that such a wonderful works are not mine! :)
 I have a particular passion for collages and he is one of my fav artists in absolute with this technique. Visit his flickr page too, and you’ll find lot of wonders, other than spend hours peeking around.

Okay okay, I admit: I LOOOVE art toys! I couldn’t that share with you this passion and my favs artists in this field.
Here’s my first selection for you: Julie West. I’m a huge fan of her works, above all for the art toy customization (incredibly perfect paint!) and illustrations.

 Hi guys! After some days of ’silence’ (sorry, I was out and without any internet connection available), I’m here with a renewed energy, and I’m working to give you new and interesting things here on IB. Stay tuned! ;)
Today I’d like to talk about the art of journaling. Most of artists have a foolish love for the Moleskine and all what is possible to do with it. Use it as a journal is one of these.
  When I saw the project of Anna Denise (from Brussels, Belgium) I was really surprised by her passion and steadiness on writing and drawing everyday for years. She translates her life, mood, ideas in drawings and colours and in these days she’s lovingly preparing a tutorial (divided in 3 parts) about this kind of art and her own experience with lots of tips and helps on ‘how to’ start a project like this.

Rieccomi! Dopo alcuni giorni di ’silenzio’ (scusate, ero fuori e senza connessione ad internet), sono di nuovo qui bella carica, e sto lavorando per preparare un pò di cose nuove ed interessanti qui su IB. Restate sintonizzati! ;)
Dunque, oggi vorrei parlare dell’ arte del journaling. La maggior parte degli artisti hanno un amore folle per la Moleskine e tutto ciò che è possibile fare con essa. Utilizzarla come una sorta di diario è una di queste possibilità.
Quando ho visto il progetto di Anna Denise (da Brussels, Belgio) sono stata davvero colpita dalla sua passione e dalla costanza di scrivere e disegnare tutti i giorni per anni. Traduce la sua vita, l’umore, le idee in disegni e colori e in questi giornista amorevolmente preparando un tutorial (diviso in 3 parti) circa questo tipo di arte e la sua esperienza personale, assieme a svariate informazioni e consigli sul ‘come fare’ ad iniziare un progetto come questo.

I love her characters and spaces, such as the way she uses different techniques to create them. I’m always impressed by the creativity and personality of artists like Ana.

When I saw this sweater I just thought “I MUST have it!”. When Ali and Eli wrote they produce stuff that they would like to wear but they don’t find in stores, well, I exactly understand what they mean. It’s a bit the same reason why I began to produce things by myself some years ago. But this is another story, I will save it for a next post.
The ‘Sirena con Jersey‘ brand born in 2007 from Eli (illustrator) and Ali (craft lover), with a series of handmade knitted sweaters, then started to produce a serie of screen printed totebags and other accesories.
I love their design, it’s like a mix of styles with a bit of vintage and a sound of geek.
These fabulous creations come from Spain. Sirena con jersey means ‘mermaid with sweater’ in spanish.
You can buy their products online at supermarketHQ shop, dudua shop, Etsy and other spaces (just check in their shop section).

Quando ho visto questo maglione ho pensato “DEVO averlo!”. Quando Ali ed Eli hanno scritto che producono cose che loro stesse vorrebbero indossare ma che non trovano nei negozi, beh, capisco esattamente cosa intendono. E’ un pò lo stesso motivo per il quale ho iniziato anche io a creare oggetti qualche anno fa. Ma questa è un’altra storia, la riservo per un prossimo post :)
Il marchio ‘Sirena con Jersey‘ nasce nel 2007 da Eli (illustratrice) ed Ali (amante dell’artigianato) con una serie di maglioni fatti a mano. Poi hanno iniziato a produrre delle totebags con stampe in screen printing ed altri accessori che continuano ad essere richiesti.
Amo il loro design, è come un mix di stili, con un pò di vintage e un pò di geek.
Queste fantastiche creazioni vengono dalla Spagna. Sirena con Jersey significa ’sirena col maglione’ in spagnolo.

I’m impressed by the works of this girl, the product details and the professionalism on taking pictures to promote them with these doll styled sets. She’s from Vienna (Austria). I found her Amateur-fashion blog but unfortunately I couldn’t understand the language, so I’ve contacted her by mail to ask some infos in english.
The label name is Amateur and, for who will pass in Vienna, the shop “Amateur la boutique” can be found at Gumpendorferstr. 88a. The mind behind this is Birgit Rampula, 29 years old.
The box in which these pictures were taken, with this nice ‘Alice in Vienna’ theme, was created by Birgit as for the set-decoration too.
The girl in the doll house is a young model (Christina) and photos are from a professional, Marcel Koehler.
She says “The label Amateur is an one woman DIY project I started 3 years ago.
It`s a combination of fashion-design and accessories with screen-printed illustrations and artsy stuff like little monsterpuppets, home-accessories, prints and stationery like hand bound scrapbooks or postcards.
Everything is handmade, unique and full of lifeblood!”

Woooo, super excited! After the little presentation of the site, here’s my first post!
And I must be honest saying that it’s been not that easy to choose but finally… the wood won!
She’s Laura Berger from USA. I love her storytelling drawings in that mix of people, spaces, objcets and emotions.
Infinite words even if no words are written. Creative images translated in simple colors and lines.
This is the sensation that her works give to me, but we know that behind this kind of art there are always a passionate study and search. Don’t miss to visit her shop, you can find her on Etsy.
